The blue gingham dress that actress Judy Garland donned in the famous film “The Wizard of Oz” in 1939 was sold for over $1 million at a New York auction Monday.

“As we witnessed today, the dress is considered a true and timeless icon of classic Hollywood,” an official from the auction house said.

The dress which fetched as much as a Hollywood home reportedly went to an active phone bidder.

The film’s costume designer had made 10 dresses for Garland’s role. The dress in question was one of only two she actually wore for the movie.
