Public health experts in the U.S. are calling for no more sports drinks for children.

A recent study from Otago University has shown that many of the sports drinks children drink after exercise are unhealthy because they are filled with sugar.

Most children said in the study that they thought these drinks were healthy since they were advertised as helping them play sports well.

But lead researcher Moira Smith said such drinks were putting children at risk of obesity and tooth decay. She explained that for any activity up to 90 minutes long, water is the best option for re-hydration, not sugary sports drinks.
