The port city of Busan and surrounding areas were hit hard by torrential rains on Aug. 25.

Over 100 millimeters of rain, which led to heavy flooding and landslides, have killed at least five people and injured several others in the city, according to the provincial government.

The catastrophe went on to foul the rail service and halted operations at a regional power plant, said the government.

The nearby city of Changwon was also hit with over 270 millimeters of rain, news reports said.
