질병 통제


As we have seen in the recent Ebola epidemic, a deadly, contagious disease ― unless completely contained in time ― can endanger national security as much as other threats.

최근 에볼라 전염병 사태에서 보았듯이 치명적인 전염병은 이를 완전히 막지지 못하면 다른 위협적인 존재들과 마찬가지로 국가 안위를 위험에 빠뜨릴 수 있다.

It seems the Korean health authorities have not learned any lessons from the outbreaks of the Ebola virus and other major epidemics.

우리 나라 보건 당국은 에볼라 바이러스 등 심각한 전염병의 발생으로부터 교훈을 얻지 못한 것 같다.

It is a matter of great dismay and concern to hear that health authorities keep mishandling cases of the Middle East respiratory syndrome.

보건 당국이 중동호흡기 증후군 이른 바 메르스 환자 관리에 계속 구멍이 나고 있다는 소식을 접하고 경악과 우려를 금할 수 없다.

A man who was suspected of being infected with the coronavirus that causes the disease, and kept under watch, has left for China.

이 질병을 일으키는 코로나바이러스에 감염된 것으로 의심돼 감시를 받았던 한 남성이 중국으로 출국했다.

Given the lax response, it would be strange if the number of people who contracted the virus does not rise since the first case was reported May 20: It has grown to seven, including a doctor. We only hope it does not get worse.

이 같은 안이한 대응을 고려해 볼 때 5월 20일 첫 확진 환자가 보고된 이후 메르스 바이러스에 걸린 환자의 수가 늘지 않는다면 이상할 것이다. 사실, 그 수는 의사 1명을 포함해 7명으로 늘어났다. 메르스 사태가 더 이상 악화되지 않기를 바랄 뿐이다.
