The district also plans to create "Hanppyeom Gardens" — small gardens planted in the tree-guard spaces beneath street trees along sidewalks.
The district installed hanging planters on streetlight poles and bus stop railings. A total of 260 pole-mounted planters were placed along Gyeongin-ro, Gamasanno and Guro Jungang-ro, while 336 railing planters were installed near Sindorim Station, Guro Station and Dongyang Mirae University, bringing the total to 596 planters.
The planters and flower beds were arranged to enhance the streetscape without obstructing pedestrian flow. Spring staples — pansies, violas and tulips — were planted so residents can enjoy the season in their daily routines.
This month, the district will create Hanppyeom Gardens at 11 street-tree sites in the roadside park strip between Daelim Station and Sindorim Station. The project plants a variety of flowering plants in previously unused tree-guard spaces beneath street trees, turning them into small gardens.
The initiative aims to bring green vitality to otherwise bare urban walkways by making use of overlooked gaps in the streetscape.
Through the project, the district said it intends to add energy to residents' daily lives and improve the quality of the urban pedestrian environment.
