The Korea Racing Authority and the Gwacheon Youth Foundation signed an MOU on youth addiction prevention in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, on May 28, the two organizations announced Monday.
The signing ceremony at the KRA's headquarters was attended by KRA business planning director Jeong In-gyun, Gwacheon Youth Foundation CEO Park Young-mi and about 20 staff members from both organizations, who pledged to work together to support healthy development among young people and prevent addiction.
Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to run addiction prevention campaigns targeting youth in Gwacheon, along with school outreach programs offering education and counseling. They will also jointly operate a therapeutic horse-riding program for at-risk youth, provide training and expert advisory services for the foundation's counseling staff, and carry out a range of other collaborative projects.
"Through our partnership with the Gwacheon Youth Foundation, we will focus the YouCan Center's capabilities on a wide range of addiction prevention and protection programs for Gwacheon's youth," Jeong said. "We will do our utmost to build a model case for resolving community challenges through close collaboration between our two organizations."
The KRA's YouCan Center earlier operated a gambling addiction prevention booth at the first Gwacheon Youth Festival, held at the Gwacheon Youth Culture Center on May 30.
