SK Speedmate expands vehicle maintenance support for firefighters, welfare facilities

SK Speedmate announced Monday that it is expanding vehicle maintenance support for firefighters, families of fallen firefighters and social welfare organizations in honor of Patriots and Veterans Month.

The company will run two programs: "Hero Mate," which provides maintenance support for active firefighters and bereaved families of those killed in the line of duty, and "Good Maintenance Sharing," which supports vehicle upkeep for social welfare facilities.

Hero Mate is a corporate social responsibility program launched in 2024 in partnership with the National Fire Agency to recognize the dedication of firefighters who serve public safety. Families of fallen firefighters receive free engine oil changes, 50 percent discounts on air conditioning gas and filters, and 30 percent discounts on the company's exclusive tires, brake pads and oil. Active firefighters receive a comparable level of discounts.

Families of fallen firefighters can book services through the Speedmate customer center, while active firefighters can present a maintenance coupon issued through "Hero," a dedicated app for firefighters.

SK Speedmate also runs the Good Maintenance Sharing project in partnership with the Seoul Council of Social Welfare. Launched in 2022, the program is designed to help social welfare facilities keep their vehicles in safe operating condition.

Through December, the company will accept first-come, first-served advance applications each month to provide discounts on key consumables — including engine oil, batteries and tires — for up to 100 social welfare facility vehicles per month. Participating organizations can obtain coupons through the customer center and book services online at any of 33 designated Speedmate stores in Seoul.

"We have diversified our support programs so that firefighters and social welfare workers who quietly dedicate themselves on the front lines can operate their vehicles more safely," a company official said. "We will continue to pursue genuine community-giving activities that draw on our core capabilities and contribute to creating social value."

Meanwhile, SK Speedmate said it plans to broaden its social impact through various corporate social responsibility programs, alongside customer convenience services such as "Starlight Maintenance," a nighttime vehicle repair service.
