Discussions focus on securing technological and legal standards
Korea Exchange Chairman Jeong Eun-bo departed Saturday for Luxembourg to attend the World Federation of Exchanges board meeting and hold talks with Norway's sovereign wealth fund, the Korea Exchange announced Monday.
Jeong is set to attend the WFE's second board meeting of the year, where participants will discuss global capital market issues and key topics facing the exchange industry. The WFE, founded in 1961, is the leading global representative body for the exchange industry.
On Tuesday in Luxembourg, Jeong plans to meet with heads of major global exchanges — including Nasdaq, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Japan Exchange Group — to discuss operational challenges and strategies for strengthening competitiveness.
Discussions will focus particularly on how regulated exchanges can secure technological and legal standards ahead of rivals in response to the expansion of tokenized share trading, which has been growing through overseas digital trading platforms.
