Broadcaster Kim Dae-ho says he earned 100 million won in under 6 months as a freelancer

Kim Dae-ho, a broadcaster and former announcer, has spoken candidly about how his income and workload changed after leaving MBC to go freelance.

Kim appeared on the tvN STORY variety program "What Are You Saving It For?" on Sunday, where he talked about his earnings since going freelance.

During the episode, fellow cast member Lee Young-ja asked whether he had been freelancing for a year. Kim said he was in his second year. Lee then remarked that he must be able to compare his current income with what he earned as a salaried employee.

Kim acknowledged that his income had reached a level he never saw during his years on a company payroll. "It's an amount you don't easily see in salaried work," he said, describing how much had changed since he went freelance.

"In less than six months of freelance life, I earned 100 million won (about $66,200)," he said. "But I work 10 times as hard. I really work hard."

When Lee asked what he spent the lump sum on, Kim said he gave cash allowances to his family.

Lee then asked whether the amount he gave was closer to 10 million won or 100 million won. "It was somewhere in between," Kim said. "There was also a bit of showing off — telling my mom, 'Mom, I'm making money now.'"
