Kim Soo-hyun weighing comeback? 'Agency carefully considering options'

A return to acting is under consideration for actor Kim Soo-hyun, 38, amid the detention of Kim Se-eui, 49, head of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute, on charges including spreading false information about the late actor Kim Sae-ron.

Ko Sang-rok, Kim Soo-hyun's legal representative, appeared on YTN Radio's "Wise Radio Lifestyle" on June 1 and addressed questions about the actor's current situation. "Objectively, something enormous happened to him, so I think you can imagine what it's like to be on the receiving end of that kind of harm," Ko said. "I have to be very careful about speaking to the mental anguish and other damage the actor has suffered."

Ko said he believed society had a role to play in helping Kim Soo-hyun recover. "I think it's necessary for society to help him return to everyday life and stand before the public again," he said. "He needs to come back with a bright outlook."

On the question of a comeback, Ko said only that "it's a sensitive matter, and the agency is carefully thinking through the specifics."

"We will do our best to support him all the way so that the actor can stand before the public again through his work," he added.

Ko said restoring Kim's reputation remained the top priority. "The actor suffered serious harm from cybercrime, and his honor and dignity were brought to the brink of destruction — he is now in the process of reclaiming that reputation," Ko said. "Getting the actor back to his normal daily life comes first."

"As the truth comes to light, what matters most is that our society welcomes him back warmly and creates an atmosphere of support so he can return to where he belongs," he added.
