Korea Zinc announced Monday it held a "One Heart Family Month" event to celebrate the idea of management and labor moving forward together as a single community.
The event took place simultaneously near Seoul and in Ulsan, drawing more than 1,050 employees. CEO Park Ki-deok and Onsan Smelter head Kim Seung-hyun were among the executives who attended, expressing gratitude to staff for their dedication to the company's growth under difficult circumstances.
On May 30, Korea Zinc's headquarters hosted a "Family Fun Day" at an amusement park in Gwacheon as part of the One Heart Family Month event. About 250 employees from the headquarters and affiliates attended with their families.
On the same day, the Onsan Smelter held a separate event titled "Prescribing Memories" at a large kids cafe in Ulsan's Nam-gu. Around 800 employees and family members from the smelter and its affiliates participated, bringing total attendance across both venues to more than 1,050.
At the amusement park, headquarters and affiliate employees first stopped at a Korea Zinc event booth at the entrance to collect a welcome gift package — which included a Dubai Chewy Cookie set along with a free-ride pass, a food and beverage voucher, and a wristband.
A range of activities followed for attendees and their families. Professional photographers offered family snapshots, and a face-painting corner for children proved popular. A "Mission Challenge" also invited families to submit creative family photos for a chance to win toy prizes.
For Onsan Smelter employees and their families, the company reserved an entire large kids cafe in Ulsan's Nam-gu for the day. The venue was set up to let children explore unique toys and various play equipment, and a selection of food, beverages and snacks was prepared for younger guests.
"Amid the hardship of a hostile takeover attempt, management and labor stood together with a shared resolve to protect Korea Zinc, and that experience deepened the bonds within our organization," a company official said. "We believe that spirit has extended to employees' families, which is why interest and participation in the Family Day event has grown."
The official added that Korea Zinc is working to embed policies that support childbirth and child-rearing, and is actively building a corporate culture that allows employees to balance work and family life alongside its ESG management efforts. "We will continue operating diverse family participation programs so that a family-friendly culture can take genuine root," the official said.
Korea Zinc was recognized last year for its efforts to build a family-friendly organizational culture, receiving a Minister of Health and Welfare award at the "2025 Population Management Excellence Company" ceremony, where it was named a company well-suited to raising children.
