6th Golf Herald & Pico Cup Korea Junior Golf Tournament draws 123 competitors

The 6th Golf Herald & Pico Cup Korea Junior Golf Tournament, organized jointly by Golf Herald — marking its 35th anniversary — Pico Korea and the Korea Junior Golf Association, concluded successfully.

Golf Herald said 123 junior golfers from across the country took part in the tournament, held May 30 at Seo Pyeongtaek Golf Club in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.

The competition was divided into elementary, middle school and high school divisions, with all participants playing 18 holes in stroke play format on a par-54 course. Trophies, certificates and prizes were awarded to the top three finishers in each division. Preschool-age players also joined the event, offering an early glimpse of the next generation of golf talent.

Among the top finishers, Jung Dae-un of Jinju Gyeongjin High School (Year 3) won the high school boys division, while Hyeon Ju-won of Anyang Sinseong High School (Year 2) took the high school girls title. In the middle school divisions, Jung Tae-bin of Seoul Sangam Middle School (Year 1) won the boys category and Kim Ga-eul of Cheonan Saesaem Middle School (Year 3) claimed the girls title. In the elementary school fifth- and sixth-grade divisions, Choi Woo-jin of Cheongna Elementary School (Grade 5) won the boys category and Lee Seo-eun of Seongseo Elementary School (Grade 6) won the girls category.

Golf Herald Publisher Lee Sun-suk said the tournament carried special meaning as it coincided with the publication's 35th anniversary. "I am grateful to the parents who gave their unwavering support and encouragement to the players," she said.

Pico Korea Director Lee Sang-jin said he hoped all participants would continue to grow in good health and pursue their dreams. Korea Junior Golf Association President Jeong Seung-eun said the event drew particularly strong interest from parents this year. "It became a meaningful platform for the development of junior golf," she said.

At the awards ceremony, Director Lee Sang-jin received a plaque of appreciation for his contributions to the advancement of junior golf and the nurturing of young talent.
