Lifestyle discounts offered to veterans; app operator signs MOUs with three MVNO companies
LG Uplus said it will support the signing of MOUs between the operator of the "Modu's Bohun Market" app and mobile virtual network operators, marking the country's Patriots and Veterans Month.
The company said Monday it will connect small and midsize MVNO businesses to Modu's Bohun Market, facilitating MOUs between the app operator and the carriers. Modu's Bohun Market is a privately led discount app the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans launched to provide lifestyle-oriented benefits to veterans and their families. The service launched in November last year.
LG Uplus described the collaboration as an effort to ease telecommunications costs for veterans, in line with the ministry's goals, through a privately led discount app. The company said it will also support the business activities of small MVNO operators.
LG Uplus will serve as a liaison to ensure smooth collaboration between small MVNO operators and the Modu's Bohun Market operator. However, it will not directly sell mobile plans or participate in contracts.
According to LG Uplus, MVNO plans are set to be introduced on the Modu's Bohun Market app in mid-June as a result of the collaboration. The three participating companies are Eyesvision, Ins Korea and Chance Mobile. A total of 24 plans — eight per company — will be offered, with discounts of around 20 to 30 percent. A promotional campaign covering those plans is expected to run for approximately three months.
On May 29, the three MVNO operators signed MOUs with the Modu's Bohun Market operator at Gasan Digital Complex in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, agreeing to introduce MVNO plans for veterans and run joint promotions.
LG Uplus said it hopes the collaboration will help the company better understand how veterans, bereaved families and discharged soldiers use MVNO plans, as well as gauge demand across different age groups.
