A high school student who allegedly stabbed a middle schooler on a city bus and fled has turned himself in to police.
At around 9:47 p.m. Monday, a 16-year-old identified as A attacked a 14-year-old middle schooler identified as B with a bladed weapon aboard a city bus passing through Songgang-dong in Daejeon's Yuseong-gu, then fled the scene.
B was conscious and breathing when paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he is receiving treatment. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
After fleeing the bus, A called police and said he intended to turn himself in, saying he had stabbed someone who had been bullying his younger sibling.
Officers responding to the scene arrested A near Songgang-dong.
A is believed to have used a bladed weapon he routinely carried. Police recovered the weapon, which he had discarded immediately after the attack.
Police are investigating the precise motive behind the attack.
