Ballot shortages reported at polling stations in Songpa-gu, Gangnam-gu, Gwangjin-gu and Dongjak-gu in Seoul

The National Election Commission announced Wednesday it would hold a press conference to issue a public apology over a ballot shortage that disrupted voting at multiple polling stations.
The commission said in a notice that its secretary-general would deliver a public apology and conduct an on-site briefing at 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The shortage occurred during the June 3 local elections, affecting polling stations in Songpa-gu, Gangnam-gu, Gwangjin-gu and Dongjak-gu in Seoul, as well as some areas in Incheon, leaving voters unable to cast their ballots.
Some voters waited for ballots to arrive but left before they could vote.
After making emergency deliveries of ballots to the affected stations, the commission issued a public notice urging voters to remain. "Voters waiting in line may still cast their ballots even after the official closing time," it said. "Please do not misunderstand — voting on Wednesday, June 3, is not impossible due to the ballot shortage."
