Processing capacity reaches up to 4,000 orders per hour
Hyundai Home Shopping said Thursday it has introduced automated logistics equipment — robotic arms and a singulator — at its distribution center in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
The robotic arms pick up multiple products at once and transfer them to an unloading conveyor belt, handling up to 24 boxes in a single pass. The system is optimized for the home shopping logistics environment, where orders for the same product tend to surge during specific broadcast windows. The singulator automatically aligns items on the conveyor belt so they can be dispatched one by one.
Hyundai Home Shopping integrated the new equipment with its auto-labeler — an automated shipping-label applicator introduced last year — to build a fully automated outbound process covering unloading, product sorting and label attachment. The upgrades are expected to raise the Hwaseong center's hourly processing capacity to as many as 4,000 orders and cut overall dispatch time by up to 20 percent.
"We plan to continue expanding the adoption of cutting-edge automation equipment suited to our logistics environment," a company official said.
