Lotte Biologics targets global CDMO market at BIO USA 2026 with Songdo factory showcase

Lotte Biologics is launching a major marketing push at the world's largest biotech event, two months before its Incheon Songdo bio campus begins full operation, as the company steps up its bid to win contracts in the global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) market.

The company said Thursday it will participate in the 2026 BIO International Convention in San Diego with a dedicated booth, aiming to expand global partnerships.

BIO International Convention, organized by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, is the world's largest pharmaceutical and biotech industry exhibition, drawing major global pharmaceutical companies, investment institutions and research organizations to explore business collaboration. Lotte Biologics has attended five consecutive years, from 2022 — the year it was incorporated — through this year.

To encourage close engagement with prospective global customers, the company has set up a networking lounge and private meeting rooms at its booth. This year it is also introducing in-booth presentations covering its vision and detailed manufacturing capabilities, alongside interactive events tied to antibody-drug conjugates (ADC), one of its core next-generation modalities.

Three in-booth presentations are scheduled across the event, each focused on demonstrating technical capabilities. On the first day, Lotte Biologics will co-present with U.S.-based Asimov to share strategies for biopharmaceutical development and production collaboration.

The second day's session will cover a scale-up strategy that applies computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology to analyze fluid flow inside large-scale bioreactors and maximize production efficiency. On the third day, the company plans to outline its digital transformation roadmap across the full manufacturing process and present operational innovation initiatives to demonstrate its smart manufacturing capabilities.

The centerpiece of this year's exhibition will be the first public release of photos and video of Songdo Bio Campus Factory No. 1 in Incheon, which is set for completion in August.

Lotte Biologics intends to offer a transparent look at the factory's detailed production processes, floor-by-floor interior layout and key equipment lineup to prove its large-scale commercial production capabilities. The company plans to use the showcase to cement its manufacturing competitiveness under a North America-Asia dual-site operating model linking its existing Syracuse, New York, factory with the new Songdo facility.

"With the completion of Songdo Bio Campus Factory No. 1 as a major milestone on the horizon, we are now able to introduce our competitive commercial production infrastructure to global buyers in a direct and intuitive way," a company official said. "We will rapidly strengthen our presence in the global CDMO market on the foundation of our dual-site structure, with Syracuse and Songdo as the two pillars."
