Jeon Hwa-sik elected Seongju-gun county chief, pledges unity and reconciliation

Independent candidate Jeon Hwa-sik won the Seongju-gun county chief race in the ninth nationwide local elections held Thursday.

In his victory statement Thursday, Jeon said he would fulfill every campaign pledge he made to residents. "I will build a newer, happier Seongju," he said.

"I take this result as a solemn order from the people of Seongju to lead the county in a new direction," he said. "I will carry out each and every campaign pledge with a deep sense of responsibility."

Jeon also vowed to heal divisions that surfaced during the election. "I will mend the conflict and discord that emerged in our community during this election and lead a county government built on harmony and unity," he said. "The election is over. I will serve every resident of Seongju regardless of whether they supported me."

"I will not lose sight of my original intentions and will be a county chief who keeps his promises to the people," Jeon said. "I will open a new future for Seongju through change and progress that residents can feel in their daily lives."
