Ahn Byung-yun wins Yecheon-gun county chief race, vows to serve all residents

Ahn Byung-yun of the People Power Party won the Yecheon-gun county chief seat in the 9th nationwide local elections.

"This victory is not mine alone — it belongs to every resident of Yecheon who wants a greater and renewed county," Ahn said Thursday in his acceptance remarks. "I will repay the trust and support you have shown me with results."

He called for unity after a competitive race. "The election brought different choices and rivalries, but it is now over," he said. "Every resident of Yecheon-gun is precious to me, whether they voted for me or for another candidate. I will run the county government on reconciliation and integration, not conflict and division."

Ahn also outlined his governing priorities, pledging to pursue practical administration centered on residents and accountability measured by outcomes. He said he would work toward balanced development that allows both new towns and older urban centers to grow together, while focusing on revitalizing the local economy, strengthening agricultural competitiveness and supporting small business owners.

"County governance is judged not by words but by results," Ahn said. "I will carry the gratitude of today and the resolve of my first day on the campaign trail through to the very last day of my term, devoting myself entirely to the development of Yecheon and the happiness of its residents."
