Newly reelected official meets with senior citizens, veterans and disability groups to hear their concerns
Jin Kyo-hoon, the Gangseo-gu district mayor who won reelection with overwhelming support from residents, visited the Korea Senior Citizens Association's Gangseo-gu chapter, a veterans' hall and a disability organization on Thursday as his first official engagements after his election victory.
The visits marked his first community outreach as a reelected district mayor and carried the symbolic weight of a commitment to serve residents with even greater humility than before, ensuring no one in Gangseo-gu is left behind.
His first stop was the Korea Senior Citizens Association's Gangseo-gu chapter. Since taking office in the eighth round of local elections, Jin has expanded senior employment programs by 70.6 percent — adding 6,083 positions — and oversaw the construction of the Magok Senior Welfare Center, demonstrating strong dedication to elderly welfare.
At the chapter, Jin met with its head, Je Eun-young, listening to concerns from the field and carefully checking whether any gaps remained in services for senior residents.
Jin then visited the veterans' hall, where he met with officials from the Veterans Organizations Federation, led by Chairman Kim Yong-baek, to discuss concrete improvements to veterans' welfare — including raising veterans' honor allowances and upgrading facilities at the hall.
He also called on the Korea Disability Organizations Federation, chaired by Kim Yong-je, to hear the difficulties faced by people with disabilities, continuing his day of community outreach.
"I am deeply grateful for the support and encouragement residents have shown me," Jin said. "I will stand with the people of this district. I will tackle local issues one by one and build a Gangseo-gu that never stops growing and keeps reaching higher."
