Sinrim Zone 6 Redevelopment Launches in Gwanak-gu — 957-Unit Complex Near Samsung Mountain

The Seoul Metropolitan Government officially designated the Sinrim Zone 6 housing redevelopment project in Gwanak-gu on May 28, clearing the way for a major overhaul of the residential environment in the Sinwon-dong area.

Sinrim Zone 6, centered on the area around 419 Sinwon-dong, is densely packed with aging, low-rise housing on sloped terrain that has long posed safety risks to residents. The redevelopment push gained momentum in March last year when the project was confirmed under the city's fast-track integrated planning process.

The site covers 37,771.3 square meters and will be developed at a floor-area ratio of 249.61 percent, yielding an apartment complex of up to 28 stories with a total of 957 units, including 189 rental units.

Sinrim Zone 6 sits at the foot of Samsung Mountain and borders Sinrim Elementary School and its affiliated kindergarten, positioning the complex as a forest-adjacent, school-zone residential community. Coordinated development with the neighboring Sinrim Zone 5 — which shares the same topography and daily-life catchment area — will produce a skyline and green corridor designed to protect views of Samsung Mountain.

A public pedestrian pathway will also be installed along Munseong-ro 28-gil, connecting Munseong-ro to the front gate of Sinrim Elementary School to improve safety along the school commute route. The pathway will include elevators and ramps for residents with limited mobility.

"This designation is an opportunity to accelerate housing improvement across the Sinrim area," Gwanak-gu District Mayor Park Jun-hee said. "We will actively support the project at the district level so that residents can enjoy a comfortable living environment as soon as possible."
