Singer Lee Seung-hwan to file complaint against cartoonist Yoon Seo-in for insult, defamation

Singer Lee Seung-hwan said he will file a criminal complaint against cartoonist Yoon Seo-in on charges of insult and defamation.

Lee announced Friday on social media that he would "proceed with a complaint against Yoon Seo-in on charges of insult and defamation."

He added that he would "continuously support Hwang Hui-du's 'Cyber Craft' so that immoral and violent posts like those in the attached images can be systematically documented, collected and managed."

Lee also shared a collection of Yoon's past social media posts that had drawn public criticism, including content disparaging independence movement figures and their descendants, as well as posts accused of sexually harassing a popular girl group.

"I will work to build a system that can establish grounds for lawsuits and policy proposals on hate speech crimes, and explore ways to stand in solidarity with victims and respond collectively," Lee said. "This is something that should have started long ago. I ask for your attention and warm support."

The legal action appears to stem from a post Yoon published on social media on May 29.

In that post, Yoon targeted Lee after he shared a photo of himself following early voting, writing: "A life of an agitator who never built a family, got divorced, and is lost in political delusions. You're nearly 60 and still talking nonsense — how sad."
