Low-dose pitavastatin combination product expands LDL-C management options
JW Joongwae Pharma has launched Livarojet 1/10mg, a low-dose version of its dyslipidemia treatment Livarojet.
Livarojet 1/10mg combines 1mg of pitavastatin with 10mg of ezetimibe. The new product joins the existing Livarojet 2/10mg and 4/10mg formulations, giving physicians a broader range of dosing options based on each patient's low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels and treatment goals.
JW Joongwae Pharma has been expanding its pitavastatin lineup — which includes the original single-ingredient drug Livaro, as well as Livarojet, Livaro Hi and Livaro Feno — with the aim of differentiating its pitavastatin offerings and strengthening the competitiveness of its original combination products.
Livarojet is South Korea's first two-ingredient combination new drug pairing pitavastatin and ezetimibe for the treatment of dyslipidemia. Pitavastatin inhibits cholesterol synthesis in the liver, while ezetimibe reduces LDL-C levels by blocking cholesterol absorption in the small intestine.
"The launch of Livarojet 1/10mg allows physicians to choose a more tailored treatment strategy based on each patient's condition and treatment goals," a company official said.
