PM nominee Han Sung-sook says she is working to sell off her properties

Prime Minister nominee Han Sung-sook said Tuesday that she is in the process of selling her properties and has continued to list them.

Han made the remarks as she arrived at her confirmation hearing preparation office at the Financial Supervisory Service training center in Jongno-gu, Seoul, responding to a reporter's question about whether she had plans to dispose of her remaining properties.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups had earlier said Han was pursuing the sale of three of her four properties as of February.

She has since sold an apartment in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, reportedly netting a gain of nearly 3 billion won (about $1.94 million) — roughly 20 years after purchasing it.

The People Power Party criticized Han over the controversy surrounding her multiple-property holdings, saying the president had in effect treated multi-property owners as people to be excluded not only from real estate policy discussions but from public office altogether. "Does that principle simply not apply to the prime minister nominee, who oversees the entire administration?" the party said.

Han declined to address the opposition party's questions about her multiple properties, saying she would respond at the confirmation hearing.
