The Kospi surged more than 7% during trading Tuesday, recovering the 8,000-point threshold.
As of 1:29 p.m. Tuesday, the Kospi stood at 8,017.67, up 533.26 points, or 7.12%, from the previous session.
The index opened up 213.35 points, or 2.85%, at 7,697.76 before extending its gains in the latter half of the session, briefly touching 8,021.91.
