Woman arrested after threatening to kill ex-boyfriend's parents, herself following breakup

A woman in her 30s has been arrested after sending hundreds of threatening messages to her boyfriend following a breakup and showing up at his home.

The Hanam Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said Tuesday it had booked the woman, identified only as A, on charges of violating the Stalking Punishment Act and making threats, and is investigating the case.

A is accused of sending hundreds of threatening KakaoTalk messages to her boyfriend, identified as B, also in his 30s, including "I'll kill you, kill your parents and then kill myself," and traveling to his residence. She also allegedly threatened to harm herself.

B called 112 emergency services at around 7:43 p.m. Monday, reporting that his ex-girlfriend was on her way to his home after threatening to kill him, his parents and herself.

B had told A to stop contacting him and ended the relationship at around 4:50 p.m. that day. In the roughly four hours that followed, A sent more than 200 messages.

Police said the two had met through a mobile gaming app and dated for about a month.

After B refused further contact, A sent repeated threatening messages and took a taxi from Incheon to B's apartment complex in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, even sending him a photo to confirm she had arrived.

Officers responding to the call arrested A at the apartment complex while searching the premises. Police are investigating the full circumstances of the incident.
