Lotte GRS recycles old uniforms into eco-friendly summer wear

Lotte GRS announced Monday that it has produced eco-friendly summer uniforms (pictured) by recycling old uniforms collected from its stores, with plans to introduce them at Lotteria, Angel-in-us and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts stores nationwide.

The initiative, dubbed the "Give us your old clothes, get new ones back" circular project, is part of the company's ESG management efforts. Old uniforms are collected, sorted and washed before being reprocessed into reusable fabric, which is then combined with other recycled materials to produce the new uniforms.

The company collected and recycled more than 2,000 old uniforms, generating a carbon reduction of approximately 4 tCO₂e — equivalent to the amount of carbon absorbed in a year by around 440 30-year-old pine trees. The finished uniforms feature a sporty, soccer-jersey-inspired design made from lightweight, moisture-wicking functional fabric.

Lotte GRS partnered with Mongsenu (Bluewear), a specialist firm with expertise in sustainable uniform manufacturing. The company had previously introduced uniforms made using "REGENT," an eco-friendly recycled fiber derived from used plastic bottles.
