Gangseo-gu district mayor spends over two hours at disability groups' healing workshop, mingling warmly with participants
Seoul's Gangseo-gu District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon spent Tuesday mingling with people with disabilities in a warm show of community engagement.
Jin attended the "Gangseo-gu Federation of Disability Organizations Healing Workshop," held at the Banghwa-dong Disability Gateball Court.
He moved through the venue in his characteristically approachable manner — greeting participants first, posing for photos and joining in the festivities without formality.
A cheerful atmosphere prevailed throughout, with Jin staying for more than two hours to interact with attendees.
The workshop, hosted by the Gangseo-gu Federation of Disability Organizations (president Kim Yong-je), drew some 150 participants from disability groups and related organizations. Attendees strengthened community bonds through a range of activities including dice games, yutnori and a singing contest.
"Thanks to all of you who warmly took my hand and welcomed me, I leave here feeling reinvigorated," Jin said. "I will do my utmost to make Gangseo a 'welfare city of reassurance' — one free of discrimination and exclusion, where people with and without disabilities live together as one."
