Citizen-oriented programs include solar car building and energy quiz events
As the climate crisis and carbon neutrality have emerged as pressing global challenges, public understanding of and engagement with eco-friendly energy has become increasingly important.
The need for education that allows future generations to directly experience how energy is produced and used — and to learn the value of renewable energy — is growing as well.
Seoul Energy Corp. (President Hwangbo Yeon) said it will participate in the "31st Yangcheon-gu Environment Day" event at Yangcheon Culture Center plaza on Saturday and operate a promotional booth for its Energy Experience School, targeting local citizens.
The event was organized to deepen residents near power facilities and the general public's understanding of district energy projects and renewable energy initiatives, and to raise awareness of the value and role of eco-friendly energy.
Through the booth, the corporation plans to introduce its district heating-based collective energy project and renewable energy initiatives — including solar and geothermal — in an accessible way for citizens. It also aims to highlight the role of eco-friendly energy in improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, while building positive public awareness of energy facilities and broadening community support.
The corporation will also run a "Solar Car Building" hands-on program for children and families. Participants will experience firsthand how solar panels convert light energy into electrical energy to power a vehicle, making it easy and fun to understand the principles behind renewable energy.
Alongside this, a range of citizen participation programs will be held, including an energy quiz event. Through programs that blend hands-on activities with play, the corporation aims to help citizens become more familiar with eco-friendly energy and its core projects, and to contribute to spreading sound energy awareness.

President Hwangbo Yeon said. "We will continue to lead the way in realizing a carbon-neutral society and spreading the value of eco-friendly energy through energy education and outreach together with citizens."
