'Be Careful, and Then Some More' — Seongbuk-gu Holds Sexual Harassment and Prostitution Prevention Education for Senior Civil Servants

Seoul's Seongbuk-gu held a sexual harassment and prostitution prevention education session for civil servants at Grade 6 and above.

The session took place Tuesday at the Seongbuk-gu district office's multipurpose hall, organized by the audit division, with District Mayor Lee Seung-ro and all senior civil servants at Grade 6 and above in attendance.

"We organized this education to raise awareness of sexual harassment and prostitution prevention within public organizations and to strengthen the responsible role of senior civil servants," a district official said.

The session was led by Muta Company. Moving away from the conventional one-way lecture format, the program dramatized workplace sexual harassment scenarios through participatory educational theater incorporating music and performance. Human rights quizzes on sexual harassment and prostitution, along with a music concert, drew strong engagement from participants.

"It made me reflect once again that senior civil servants taking the lead in developing gender sensitivity and human rights awareness is the starting point for improving organizational culture," said one official who attended. "I will make a personal effort toward a public service where everyone is treated with respect."

District Mayor Lee also attended the session. "When a human rights-friendly workplace culture is firmly established, the quality of administrative services provided to residents and public trust in district governance can both rise," he said. "As district mayor, I will spare no attention or support in building a safe workplace free from human rights violations."

Seongbuk-gu holds annual sexual harassment and prostitution prevention and human rights education sessions for staff at Grade 6 and above as part of its ongoing efforts to build a safe workplace free from human rights violations.
