Hyundai Engineering wins Kazakhstan gas processing facility project

Hyundai Engineering has added to its Central Asia order book by securing a large-scale chemical plant project in Kazakhstan.

The company said Monday it received a letter of award from KazGas, Kazakhstan's state-owned gas company, for the Karachaganak Gas Processing Facility project.

The project involves constructing a gas processing facility and ancillary infrastructure capable of handling 5 billion cubic meters of raw gas per year within the Karachaganak complex, located roughly 1,260 kilometers west of the Kazakh capital Astana. Hyundai Engineering will handle engineering and procurement, while SICIM — an Italy-based EPC contractor — will participate through its local subsidiary as the construction consortium partner. The win reflects Hyundai Engineering's world-class execution capabilities in gas processing plants, particularly its track record of completing multiple large-scale projects across Central Asia, including in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which gave the company differentiated competitiveness in the bidding process.

"This contract again demonstrates our gas processing plant execution capabilities and technology in the global market," a Hyundai Engineering official said. "We will successfully complete this project on the strength of our experience in the Commonwealth of Independent States region and further solidify our position in the global plant market." Hyundai Engineering has set "key player in the technology-based energy value chain" as its management goal this year, in line with the ongoing energy transition.
