114 companies and institutions gather at COEX from Wednesday through Friday
AI models, robots and other emerging technologies set to boost productivity and reshape consumer experiences in retail and logistics are converging at a single venue this week.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is hosting the "2026 Digital Distribution and Logistics Fair" at Hall C of COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from Wednesday through Friday.
Now in its sixth year, the event is themed "Digital Innovation in the Retail and Logistics Industry for Productivity Enhancement." Beyond a conventional exhibition, it focuses on expanding the ministry's ongoing "Retail and Logistics M.AX" initiative — an effort to accelerate AI adoption across the manufacturing sector.
Through the Retail and Logistics M.AX program, the ministry aims to improve efficiency across the entire retail and logistics value chain, from manufacturers and distribution centers to retail stores and end consumers.
To that end, the ministry is working to identify AI pilot models ready for real-world deployment — including AI-powered autonomous logistics platforms and intelligent store systems — and roll them out across the broader industry ecosystem.
A total of 114 companies and institutions are taking part, showcasing a range of new technologies including retail data services, AI logistics solutions and smart store systems.
Among the highlights are technologies ready for immediate on-site deployment, such as a smart-glasses-based picking solution — a wearable device that guides warehouse workers through logistics tasks using augmented reality — designed to cut costs and improve operational efficiency.
A dedicated stage called "STAGE R" will feature live performances by humanoid robots, autonomous mobile robots and service robots carrying out complex tasks in simulated warehouse and retail environments, offering a glimpse of where the industry is headed.
Running alongside the exhibition are a business matching session connecting AI technology providers with potential corporate clients, and the "Retail and Logistics M.AX Conference," where participants can share the latest industry trends.
"The spread of AI and robotics is rapidly transforming every stage of retail and logistics operations," said Lee Gyu-bong, the ministry's director general for mid-sized enterprise policy. "Going forward, we will work to expand pilot models through the Retail and Logistics AI Alliance and actively support small retailers and self-employed business owners so they too can experience the benefits of digital transformation."
