Only tire company among this year's 11 honored groups; 614 blood donation certificates to be donated in recognition of the award

Nexen Tire announced Wednesday that it has received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare for its contributions to promoting a blood donation culture and stabilizing the national blood supply, ahead of World Blood Donor Day on Sunday.
The commendation, presented by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, is awarded to individuals and organizations that have led efforts to advance blood services over multiple years. Nexen Tire is the only tire company among the 11 groups honored this year.
The company was recognized for establishing a blood donation culture within its workforce while sustaining practical social contribution activities, including support for children with pediatric cancer.
Since introducing an in-house "blood donation bank" system in 2021, Nexen Tire has built a track record of community engagement — running blood donation campaigns to help ease a national blood shortage during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2021 to 2023, receiving a commendation from the Korean Red Cross for blood donation contributions in 2022, donating blood donation certificates to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation in 2023, and signing an MOU with Hanmaeum Blood Center in 2025.
To mark the award, the company plans to donate 614 blood donation certificates — collected voluntarily by employees — to those in need of transfusions. Nexen Tire said the donation was organized to reflect on the significance of the minister's commendation and to further foster a culture of life-sharing within the company.
"This commendation is the fruit of the warm hearts of our employees, who embraced the value of sharing life and participated voluntarily," a Nexen Tire official said. "We will continue to fulfill our corporate social responsibility and expand social contribution activities that provide meaningful help to underserved neighbors."
Meanwhile, Nexen Tire donated 120 million won (about $79,000) last year to support recovery from large-scale wildfires in the Yeongnam region, and this year provided scholarships to approximately 800 students through three public-interest foundations, including the Nexen Wolseok Culture Foundation, as part of its ongoing social contribution efforts across a range of fields.
