'Moorim Paper Blossom' platform to launch June 16
Program to supply production paper to individual creators, indie and small publishers
Paper industry expands role as printing sector grapples with rising production costs
Moorim Paper, one of South Korea's leading paper manufacturers, is launching a 300 million won paper support project aimed at energizing creative culture and bolstering the publishing and printing ecosystem.
The company announced Wednesday it will run the initiative under the name "The First Page with Moorim," with the goal of spreading paper-based creative culture and revitalizing the publishing and printing industries.
The project is designed to help individual creators, independent publishers and small publishing houses experience and use paper more freely. Moorim Paper said it intends to provide meaningful support to creators who face relatively high paper procurement and production costs compared with larger publishers.
Moorim Paper will supply up to 300 million won worth of paper through the program. Eligible applicants include individual creators and independent or small publishers seeking to produce books, printed materials or other paper-based works.
Applications are open through June 30. Details and submission forms are available on the Moorim Paper website, and inquiries can also be made through the company's KakaoTalk channel.
Industry observers see the project as an effort not only to expand paper demand but also to deepen ties with the publishing and printing sectors. While rising digital content consumption has shifted how print media is used, demand for high-quality printing — including independent publications, art books and brand print materials — has consistently held up.
"We hope this project gives creators the freedom to experience paper and bring their stories to life as tangible works," a Moorim Paper official said. "We will continue to expand support activities that allow us to grow alongside the publishing and printing industries."
