Singer Seo In-young opens up about hurtful comments ahead of remarriage

Singer Seo In-young, who is set to remarry in the second half of this year, said she has been hurt by malicious online comments as she prepares to start a new family with her partner. She pushed back against insinuations about her past, saying, "It's not like I cheated and got divorced," and said she would do her best to make the marriage work.

On Monday, Seo uploaded a video titled "Seo In-young's Marriage Feelings Revealed for the First Time (Misunderstandings, Truth and the Wedding)" to her YouTube channel "Gaegwacheonson Seo In-young."

In the video, she spoke candidly about her upcoming remarriage to Choi Ji-hoon, CEO of content creative company NP, who is six years her senior.

Seo married a businessman nine years her senior in February 2023 but divorced after about a year.

She expressed disappointment at the negative reactions some people had shown since her remarriage announcement.

"The comment that hurt me the most was 'let's see how many months this lasts,'" she said. "I don't know how long it will last either. But I'm really going to try my best to make it work."

"My heart is always in the right place. Please don't misunderstand my true feelings. I always try. I really mean it," she said, adding, "It's not like I cheated and got divorced."

She also said that marriage had always been her dream. "I tried to make my first marriage work too, but it just didn't go well," she said.

"I wanted to give my all to both family life and my career, and now I'm trying to make that dream a reality," Seo said. "I was drawn to my fiancé's diligence."

On Choi, who has never been married before, she said he is "a businessman and a total workaholic." "In the past I was attracted to wealthy men, but now I'm drawn to someone who works hard. His diligence is what I find attractive," she added.

Seo said she had suffered from severe depression after her divorce and spent her days drinking before being set up on a blind date with Choi. "After my divorce, my depression got so bad that I was drinking every day, and then a blind date came along," she said. "At the time I had no desire to meet anyone, but after meeting my fiancé I became certain."

She also shared a behind-the-scenes story of their first meeting, saying her fiancé told her he felt from the moment they met that they would get married. "That's probably why we had our first kiss then too," she said.

Meanwhile, Seo debuted in 2002 as a member of the group Jewelry, earning wide popularity with hit songs including "One More Time" and "Super Star." She launched her solo career in 2007 and became a major star with "Cinderella."
