The Kakao union, which staged the company's first-ever strike Wednesday, has announced plans for a second walkout.
Seo Seung-wook, head of the Kakao chapter of the Korea Chemical Textile Food Industry Workers' Union, signaled the additional strike after leading a march from Pangyo Station plaza to H Square in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on Wednesday. "We are preparing to carry out a 'Log-off Day' on June 29," he said.
However, the union has not yet decided on the specific form the action will take, such as an all-day strike or a general strike.
The union conducted a partial strike Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break from noon to 1 p.m., bringing the effective strike duration to four hours. It marked the first work stoppage in the company's history.
Five affiliates participated in the partial strike — Kakao's headquarters, Kakao Pay, Kakao Enterprise, DK TechIn and XL Games.
