A vehicle spotted speeding down a highway on bare wheel rims — with no tires — has stirred controversy online.
A post titled "Vehicle driven without tires" recently appeared on the online community Bobaedream.
The author, identified only as A, said he works for a security firm and was traveling with four colleagues, including his boss, when they spotted the vehicle.
"Our boss was the first to notice that one of the cars had no tires," A wrote. "When we looked closely, a sedan was barreling down the road on bare rims, making a loud roar."
A said he honked and tried to signal the driver about the dangerous situation, but the driver showed no reaction.
"The driver just kept looking straight ahead and didn't even turn on the hazard lights," A said. "A dump truck driver also tried to alert him, but he ignored everyone."
Video footage captured at the time shows a gray vehicle hurtling down the road with its front tires completely stripped away, leaving only bare metal rims in contact with the asphalt.
"Even without tires, he kept picking up speed and, rather than pulling into a lower lane, just cut straight into the second lane," A said. "He looked to be going about 50 to 60 kilometers per hour."
After calling police, A followed the vehicle and continued monitoring the situation. Fearing an accident was imminent, he used a light baton and megaphone to guide the car onto the shoulder and bring it to a stop, then handed the scene over to officers who arrived shortly after.
"Just the distance we followed him after first spotting him was about 6 to 7 kilometers," A said. "When I asked the driver why, he told me he was on his way to get the tire replaced — I couldn't believe it."
