GS25 hiking prices on six products, including ice cups and Big Ball Wavve
GS25 will raise the prices of its ice cups starting June 12.
The medium size will go from 700 won to 800 won, a 100-won increase of 14.2%. The large size rises from 900 won to 1,000 won (11.1%), and the extra-large from 1,300 won to 1,400 won (7.6%).
The "Big Ball Wavve" ice cup will see a steeper hike, rising 200 won — or 15.3% — from 1,300 won to 1,500 won. Block ice products will also go up by 100 won each: the 1-kilogram "Rock Ice" from 2,200 won to 2,300 won, and the 3-kilogram size to 4,700 won.
Ice cups are among the most popular convenience store products in summer, as shoppers use them to chill coffee and other drinks. Their relatively low price makes them a common alternative to café beverages, with many customers pairing them with pouch drinks or alcohol purchased at the store.
A GS25 official said the increases were driven by rising raw material costs.
