3-year global follow-up study yields real-world evidence white paper
Rockit Healthcare (CEO Yoo Seok-hwan) said its "skin regeneration platform" achieved a 94.9% regeneration rate in treating patients with traumatic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers (DFU).
The company operates a 3D bioprinting-based regenerative medicine platform. It published a real-world evidence (RWE) white paper Wednesday based on a three-year observational study conducted at hospitals across six countries.
"94.9% of patients with intractable chronic skin wounds were confirmed to have healed within 12 weeks," the company said. "The average healing period was 7.7 weeks, showing a faster recovery rate compared to conventional treatments."
A cost-effectiveness analysis using a UK model based on the RWE cases found the platform reduced medical costs by approximately 86 million won ($56,600), or 60 percent, compared to conventional skin grafting, and by 28.5 million won ($18,800), or 20 percent, compared to negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), the company said.
The white paper also includes case studies from medical institutions in six countries, among them the United States and Japan. A 60-year-old diabetic foot ulcer patient at Nishitokushukai Hospital in Tokyo healed within five weeks. A 65-year-old male patient at the Virginia Vascular Institute was declared fully healed after eight weeks. A severe burn patient in Turkey achieved skin regeneration in nine weeks.
Ji Seong-mo, president of Rockit's skin regeneration division, said the long-term follow-up results "prove that this is a solution that genuinely protects patients' lives and bodies in real-world clinical settings around the globe."
