Korea Expressway Corp. seeks engineering evaluation committee members for civil works

Korea Expressway Corp. said Wednesday it is accepting applications for members of its inaugural First Civil Engineering Technology Evaluation Committee through July 1, as part of efforts to strengthen the fairness and expertise of engineering assessments covering design and supervision services.

The recruitment drive is in line with the current government's policy to enhance fairness in the public sector, with the goal of establishing a dedicated evaluation panel for civil engineering technology assessments. President Lee Jae-myung called for the creation of a transparent and fair economic and institutional system during a government briefing in December last year.

The committee will comprise approximately 400 members drawn from seven fields — transportation, roads, geotechnical engineering, structures, construction, safety and smart technology. Candidates will be selected through institutional recommendations from schools, public institutions and academic societies, as well as open recruitment. Industry insiders will be barred from participation to ensure impartiality.

Selected members will serve from the time recruitment concludes through February 2028 — a term of roughly 18 months. They will evaluate the suitability of construction engineering firms' proposed work plans during the selection process for design and supervision contracts.

"Through the operation of a dedicated technology evaluation committee, we will further strengthen the fairness and expertise of assessments, build a transparent and trustworthy evaluation system, and do our utmost to create a highway construction environment that the public can rely on," a Korea Expressway Corp. official said.
