Professor Kim Gyeong-il of Ajou University to speak at the district office auditorium on July 7 on raising children with healthy self-esteem — open to 400 parents of infants, toddlers and early elementary schoolers; registration closes June 19
Gwangjin-gu (district mayor Kim Gyeong-ho) will hold a special parenting education event on July 7 at 10 a.m. in the district office auditorium for 400 parents of infants, toddlers and children in the early grades of elementary school.
The lecture will feature Kim Gyeong-il, a professor of psychology at Ajou University and a leading authority in cognitive psychology. His talk is titled "Love Abundantly, Frustrate Appropriately: Building Healthy Self-Esteem in Our Children."
Amid growing concerns about overprotective and overly interventionist parenting, the lecture will offer guidance on maintaining healthy psychological boundaries between parents and children and on finding the right approach to child-rearing.
The session will focus on helping children recover and grow on their own through experiences of failure and setback, drawing on real-life examples and practical advice on fostering healthy self-esteem.
The event is also expected to give parents an opportunity to reflect on their own parenting styles and learn more effective ways to communicate with their children.
Residents who wish to attend can apply through the Gwangjin-gu Comprehensive Childcare Support Center website. Registration is open through June 19 on a first-come, first-served basis, with 400 spots available.
In addition, organizers have planned special events and gift giveaways for participants on the day of the lecture to make the experience both educational and enjoyable.

The Gwangjin-gu Comprehensive Childcare Support Center works to foster a healthy parenting environment and promote family-friendly culture through programs including parenting education, play and hands-on activities, and counseling support.
