DJ at amusement ride wore ankle monitor while gang-raping high school girl, scored higher than notorious child molester on psychopathy test

A man in his 20s working as a DJ at a Disco Pang Pang — a spinning amusement ride popular among teenagers — gang-raped a high school girl while wearing an electronic ankle monitor, it has emerged. Court documents show the perpetrator received the same danger assessment score as notorious child sex offender Jo Du-sun and scored 33 points on the Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R), four points higher than Jo's score of 29.

The case came to light Monday on JTBC's "Crime Scene Captain," which featured the account of a woman identified as A, whose daughter was gang-raped by the Disco Pang Pang DJ.

According to the tip submitted to the program, A's daughter, then a high school student, had frequently visited the Disco Pang Pang with friends.

The abuse came to light after the daughter got into an argument with family members and harmed herself with a sharp object. Alarmed, A pressed her daughter for an explanation, and the girl disclosed that she had been assaulted in April last year.

According to A, the DJ — identified by his surname Park — lured the girl to his home by telling her he had some of her clothing, then gang-raped her together with a teenage male accomplice.

Park and his accomplice handcuffed the victim during the assault and filmed it. Two days later, they called her back under the pretense of deleting the footage, then confined and assaulted her again. Park was wearing an electronic ankle monitor throughout.

A eventually filed a police report, but Park had already been detained in connection with a separate sex crime case.

A added that Park had previously been convicted of a sex crime as a juvenile and sentenced to a maximum of seven years and a minimum of five years.

The perpetrators showed no remorse during the trial, sources said.

Park sent the victim a handwritten letter during the proceedings, writing that he had been "very surprised" to see her sitting in the public gallery and that he felt "heavy-hearted" about letting her see a side of him he had not wanted to show.

The court sentenced Park to 10 years in prison and his teenage accomplice to a maximum of seven years and a minimum of five years. Both appealed the first-instance ruling.

According to the ruling, Park scored 17 points on the Korean Sex Offender Risk Assessment Scale (KSORAS), matching the score of child sex offender Jo Du-sun.

He also scored 33 on the PCL-R — four points above Jo Du-sun's score of 29.
