Im Young-woong fans donate to children with pediatric cancer on singer's birthday

Im Young-woong's fan club "Yeongwoong Sidae Gwangju-Jeonnam" carried out a charitable act to mark the singer's 36th birthday.

The Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation, a nonprofit specializing in pediatric cancer, announced Wednesday that the fan club had delivered 5 million won in donations along with 100 Hickman pouches to support children with the disease. The contribution was the result of funds raised voluntarily by fans, and the money will go toward treatment costs for the children.

Hickman pouches are items designed to help pediatric cancer patients who wear a Hickman catheter — a type of central venous line — live more safely and comfortably during chemotherapy. The fan club has participated in the Hickman pouch campaign every year to support children undergoing treatment.

"Following the warm comfort and positive influence that singer Im Young-woong shares, our members came together to bring a small measure of hope to children with pediatric cancer who are going through difficult times," a representative of the fan club said. "We will continue to practice the value of giving alongside Im Young-woong and keep sending our warm support."

Yeongwoong Sidae Gwangju-Jeonnam has been supporting children with pediatric cancer since 2020, with cumulative donations now totaling 85.2 million won ($56,100). The club has assisted 14 patients to date and has taken part in a range of charitable campaigns, including the Hickman pouch campaign, the Warm Mask campaign and the My Friend Nibeo campaign.

"We are deeply grateful to Yeongwoong Sidae Gwangju-Jeonnam for their steady generosity toward children with pediatric cancer over so many years," said Seo Seon-won, secretary-general of the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation. "We will make sure the donated funds are used in a way that provides real support to the children and families going through treatment."

Meanwhile, Im Young-woong is set to show a more down-to-earth side of himself away from the stage through "Mountain Village Bachelor Yeongwoong," a new SBS variety program premiering June 23.
