'Go, Korea!' — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang opens up about nerve-racking ceremonial pitch

A behind-the-scenes interview with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang about his ceremonial first pitch at Jamsil Baseball Stadium — part of his visit to South Korea — has been released.

The Doosan Bears' official YouTube channel posted the video Monday under the title "The Talk-of-the-Town Ceremonial Pitcher, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang — 2026 First Pitch Behind the Scenes."

Huang threw the ceremonial first pitch June 7 before the Doosan Bears-Kiwoom Heroes game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul.

He took the mound wearing a Doosan uniform bearing the number 93 — a nod to Nvidia's founding year — while Doosan Group Chairman Park Jung-won stepped into the batter's box in a jersey marked 96, representing Doosan's founding year of 1896.

Before the pitch, Huang greeted the crowd with "Hello, Korea!" and said he was "really happy to be here," adding, "Thank you for the warm welcome you have shown me, my family and Nvidia in Korea all this time."

"Nvidia and Korea, PC gaming, and the technology industries of Nvidia and Korea have grown together," he said. He added that he had come to express gratitude to his closest friends and Nvidia's partners in Korea, who were with him at the game Wednesday.

He also said he had come "to enjoy Korean fried chicken," adding, "There is nothing better than chimaek" — fried chicken paired with beer — before shouting, "Go, Korea!"

Huang's pitch sailed high, forcing Chairman Park to duck out of the way. Huang responded with a sheepish grin, pulling Park into a hug and breaking into laughter.

After signing autographs and posing for photos, Huang quipped that he would have done better as a batter than a pitcher, turning to Chairman Park and asking, "Don't you think so?"

Reflecting on the experience, Huang said the pitch had been genuinely terrifying. "The first pitch was incredibly scary — really, truly scary," he said. "So many people were chanting my name and I was so nervous."

He explained that the errant throw came from locking eyes with Park. "The chairman was standing right in front of me, and when you look at someone while you throw, the ball just goes straight to them," he said. "I looked at the chairman and the ball went right to him."

When Park acted out the moment the ball flew over his head, Huang laughed and admitted he should never have looked at him. "I should have kept my eyes on the catcher," he said. "I was looking at the chairman while throwing and then — oh my God."

Huang continued signing autographs for fans throughout the game and joined in when a dance segment played over the stadium speakers, moving to the beat. He also danced along to "Golden," the theme song from the Netflix animated series "K-Pop Demon Hunters."

Online commenters reacted with delight. "Never thought I'd live to see Jensen Huang throw a first pitch," one wrote. Others called it "the best first-pitch event ever" and joked, "I feel like money is flowing in just watching him." Some noted it was their first time seeing two chairmen take part in a ceremonial pitch together, while others quipped, "Looks like this is why the team lost."
