A tribute to the Le Mans 24 Hours Valkyrie
Features Valkyrie steering wheel; priced at £58,750 (120 million won, approx. $78,800)
British ultra-luxury sports car brand Aston Martin and UK racing equipment company Curv Racing Simulators unveiled the AMR-C01-R Hypercar Edition on Thursday.
The AMR-C01-R Hypercar Edition is a racing simulator created to commemorate the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar competing in this year's Le Mans 24 Hours. Production is limited to 24 units worldwide.
The simulator comes in two specifications, each carrying the livery of the #007 and #009 Valkyrie race cars entered at Le Mans. Both are finished in Aston Martin's signature Podium Green, accented with either yellow or red highlights.
Development involved Darren Turner, Aston Martin's high-performance test driver and a three-time Le Mans class winner. The simulator replicates the seat position of the actual Valkyrie hypercar and pairs a 49-inch curved display with an Nvidia RTX graphics card for maximum immersion.
The simulator also fits the bespoke steering wheel used in the actual Aston Martin Valkyrie. The wheel is built to order, and customers can choose the colors of the side trim and rotary dials to their own specification.
Turner, who is also founder of Curv Racing Simulators, said the team focused on achieving "the perfect seating position, precise steering feedback and a pure racing experience." He added that the goal was to give users the feeling of sitting in an actual Valkyrie cockpit and driving on track.
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin's executive vice president and chief creative officer, said the Valkyrie is "the most dramatic and uncompromising feat of engineering in Aston Martin's history." He described the Hypercar Edition as a work that captures both the DNA of the Le Mans race car and Aston Martin's design philosophy.
The AMR-C01-R Hypercar Edition is hand-built in Britain on a carbon fiber monocoque structure. It is priced at £58,750 (120 million won, approximately $78,800) before taxes.
Meanwhile, Aston Martin recently appointed Andrea Baldi — formerly of supercar brands Ducati and Lamborghini — as its new chief commercial officer as the company moves to strengthen its brand competitiveness in the ultra-luxury high-performance vehicle market.
