Man sparks outrage after sleeping on Seoul subway floor during morning rush hour

A man caught on video lying on the floor of a packed Seoul subway car during the morning commute has drawn widespread criticism online.

Footage submitted by a viewer and aired on JTBC's "Sageon Banjang" showed the man stretched out across the aisle of a Line 2 subway car, fast asleep.

He had draped his jacket over himself like a blanket and placed a book over his face, appearing entirely unbothered by the passengers around him.

The incident took place at around 8:30 a.m., when the train was crowded with commuters heading to work.

The person who submitted the footage said they did not notice the man until several stops had passed, and that he had been sleeping in the same position for a considerable time.

With the man occupying the middle of the aisle, other passengers were forced to step around him. He reportedly slept undisturbed for about 30 minutes without anyone intervening.

Online commenters reacted with frustration. "This is extreme selfishness — as long as he's comfortable, nothing else matters," one user wrote. Others called the behavior "hard to understand, no matter how little you care about what others think."
