KT Corp teams up with AWS, Databricks to support AI transformation among Gyeonggi startups

KT Corp announced Thursday that it hosted an event with the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Databricks Korea and KT Cloud to support AI transformation among startups in Gyeonggi Province.

The event, "KT AX Immersion Day 2026 Gyeonggi," was held Wednesday at Pangyo Startup Zone in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. It targeted startups in the IT, gaming and media sectors, sharing AI- and cloud-based AX strategies and practical approaches to workplace innovation.

Participating companies including AWS and Databricks shared case studies on AI agents, data-driven decision-making and cloud migration, helping startups develop concrete AI and cloud strategies suited to their own circumstances.

AWS presented a session titled "AI Agent on AWS," introducing workplace innovation methods using AI agent technology that understands user requests and autonomously carries out required tasks. A follow-up session, "AI Engineering 3.0: The New Build Paradigm Powered by Harness," went beyond AI models themselves to outline "Harness Engineering" — the surrounding technical framework needed to turn models into real-world services — and explored how development and operations practices are evolving in the AI era.

Databricks led a session titled "The Startup Survival Equation: How a Business-Centered Data Environment Changes the Speed of Decision-Making," sharing methods for startups and growth-stage companies to build data-driven decision-making systems.

KT Corp showcased customer workplace innovation cases using its Cloudflex service. KT Cloudflex optimizes and delivers a range of cloud offerings tailored to each customer's environment. Built on dedicated hardware, it provides a high-performance, high-security cloud environment with flexible on-demand scaling, combining the agility of public cloud with the stability of private infrastructure.

KT Cloud presented best-practice cloud migration cases covering public institution systems — including local government and administrative platforms — and financial and fintech services, outlining strategies for stable cloud adoption and operation.

The event went beyond simple technology introductions, focusing on helping startups address real-world challenges in development, operations and data utilization from an AX perspective.

Park Hyeon-ji, CEO of event participant Nekton, said her company had long recognized the need for AI- and cloud-based AX transformation to sustain growth but had struggled to find solutions that fit its specific circumstances. "This event gave us exposure to a wide range of domestic and international AX trends and cases, and was a great help in setting the direction for our AX initiatives," she said.

Lee Jin-hyeong, executive vice president and head of KT Corp's AX Business Division, said the company would draw on its accumulated AX expertise to provide practical technical information tailored to regional industry characteristics and each company's stage of AX adoption. "We will actively support companies' AI and cloud transformation in collaboration with our partners," he said.

Meanwhile, KT Corp last year co-hosted "Busan Cloud Day 2025" with the Busan city government and the Busan Institute for Information Technology Promotion, introducing the latest trends in generative AI, cloud and security infrastructure — along with cloud-based workplace innovation cases — to companies in the Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang regions.
