Artist Kim So-gon expresses nature's beauty through glass sculpture — free exhibition runs June 23 to Aug. 23
[The Herald Business = Senior Reporter Park Jong-il] Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu will host "Structure of Awe," a solo exhibition by the selected artist of the 2026 Eunpyeong Craft Competition, at Samgaksan Geumam Art Museum from June 23 to Aug. 23, the district announced.
Now in its third year, the Eunpyeong Craft Competition selected artist Kim So-gon under the "Korean Craft in Coexistence with Nature" category. The exhibition showcases her work.
Kim works primarily with glass, using light and color in sculptural forms to capture the many faces and transformations of the natural world.
The exhibition features pieces that explore how glass and metal oxides interact to produce shifts in color and form. The works draw on the transparency and rich palette unique to glass, shifting in mood depending on the viewing angle and quality of light.
Kim said she sought to honor the inherent properties of her materials while embracing the organic changes in shape and color that emerge naturally, expressing a harmonious relationship between humanity and nature.
Eunpyeong-gu District Mayor Kim Mi-gyeong said she hoped residents would visit the museum during the hot summer months to enjoy the cool, luminous glass works and find a moment of rest and calm in their daily lives.
