Coway donates 147 air purifiers to vulnerable households in 9th year of government partnership

Coway announced Thursday it has joined the "Indoor Environment Improvement MOU for Environmentally Vulnerable Groups," a program run in partnership with the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy.

The initiative brings together the ministry, the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute, the Community Chest of Korea, and private companies to improve the living conditions of people most susceptible to environmental hazards. Seventeen companies, including Coway, signed on this year.

Coway has participated in the program for nine consecutive years since 2018, supplying air purifiers to vulnerable households with poor indoor air quality and providing free maintenance services, including filter replacements. The company has donated a cumulative total of 147 air purifiers through this year.

Coway received a commendation from the environment minister in 2024 for its contributions to improving indoor environments for vulnerable groups. Last year, the company also announced it would provide air purifiers along with two years of maintenance service through the same program.

Beyond the indoor environment initiative, Coway continues to work with central and local government bodies on broader living environment improvement projects. Since 2015, the company has supplied water purifiers to residents in groundwater-contaminated areas through programs such as the "Safe Groundwater Support Project."

"Supporting environmentally and health-vulnerable groups so they can live in healthy, comfortable indoor environments is one of a company's most important social responsibilities," a Coway official said. "We will continue to collaborate with various organizations to contribute to improving environmental welfare in local communities."
