'Chungju Girl' Choi Ji-ho says she looked for hidden cameras when she heard 'Chungju Man' was quitting

Choi Ji-ho, the civil servant known as "Chungju Girl," opens up about the pressure she has faced since "Chungju Man" Kim Seon-tae left his post.

Choi, the new face of Chungju City's official YouTube channel "ChungTV," is set to appear on MBC's "All-Knowing Informer," airing Saturday.

Recalling the moment she first heard Kim was resigning, Choi said she thought it was a prank. "I thought it was a hidden-camera stunt and started looking around for the camera," she said.

Choi also revealed that Kim had approached her with a scouting offer. Why she ultimately decided to stay despite that offer will be disclosed during the broadcast.

Choi still works in the same office Kim once used, and traces of her predecessor were immediately noticeable throughout the space. She drew laughs by explaining that Kim had left in such a rush — "like he was sneaking away in the middle of the night" — that he did not even have time to collect his personal belongings.

Choi and fellow civil servant Jang Yeon-ju also show strong working chemistry. While Jang handles social media duties, Choi fields a constant stream of collaboration requests — from local governments and the National Tax Service to various YouTube channels and broadcasters — underscoring the wide popularity of "Chungju Girl."

Choi has stepped up as the channel's new face by personally coordinating her schedule amid the surge in demand.

Meanwhile, Choi oversees operations for the Chungju City YouTube channel, which Kim originally ran before retiring from the civil service in February. She has since taken the lead in continuing the channel's work.
